Spongecola


Una...like one of the band's songs...This is my first ever blog...And if ever maybel,geh and que saw this...they'd probably say that i've gone too crazy about the BAND.

I was listening to the mp3s on my new pc, and i was psyched to hear an acoustic version of Crazy for you by Madonna...(I really love that song).I thought it's Parokya ni Edgar,coz i saw them played the song at Hard Rock Cafe in 2001...Until now I can't believe Chito did sang Crazy for you!and i just can't get over it and then there's this another local band who's becoming popular because of their another version.It say's Crazy for you (live at Kublai's) by Spongecola in my screen,i said to myself who's this band!? I mean Chito's version was so cool and i can't believe that there's another band taking out the credits for making Madonna's song popular again.I searched about the band's history,their songs, pictures, even their friendster's account, and i did learn so much about them. Not to mention i am now one of their biggest fans. I have almost all of their songs and i was so excited when i saw them played last Feb fair at UP diliman.Though they only sang 3 songs but still they rocked my night... I can say that somehow i discovered the band in the sense that i was able to influence my friends here to listen and finally appreciate their songs. I am from a far far away province where there's no Manila FM stations, meaning i only listen thru internet streaming and downloading.(it sucks!) So i always have this happiness headache whenever their KLSP video is played on MYX or whenever i receive a mail from their yahoogroups.I also saw their MYX Live performance,that was the first time i saw the band,of course who wouldn't notice Yael (band's vocalist/lead)...but it's true !the fact that the lead vocalist will always be the 1st person to be recognized especially when you're in a rock band..Yael has a very nice voice but what i like most about him.....he writes the songs and his eyes.especially when he looked at the camera and sang the lines 'sino ba tong nakatingin, anghel bang magliligtas sa akin' .I'm sure he'll be loved by the ladies in the same way Bamboo Manalac is experiencing right now. I mean a simple guy with good rockista looks with a nice voice... the hell!!! heartthrob ng banda...yun na!!!I can't believe all of them are still in the midst of their college life.I guess good songs were written during college years.I just hope they'll be like Parokya ni edgar which remained intacked and enjoys the life of bein a rock band after how many years.

What can i say i really love local alternative bands especially if all their songs are so well-written and well played....And Spongecola is one of the new rising bands in the country and im sure with the way their songs are written...they will surpass their so-called "Crazy for you band" days...though i hope i can see them play it again live and out-loud! Well expect me to write blogs regarding spongecola and other local bands.
